Melina is the founding partner of Flores, PLLC. She provides general counsel advice and represents clients on corporate and transactional matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance issues, cross-border matters, and corporate immigration law. Her representations span a variety of sectors including the industrial, construction, building materials, manufacturing, cement, real property, and hazardous waste disposal sectors. She is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Mexico and has substantial experience practicing in both jurisdictions.
Prior to founding Flores, PLLC, Melina served as Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, Vice President of Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary for several international public and private companies where she advised owners, board members, executive leadership teams, and other corporate officers on a broad range of matters including strategic planning, budgeting and objectives, risk management and mitigation procedures, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, fiduciary liability matters, contracts, cross-border and commercial transactions and litigation, project finance, labor and employment matters (including reductions in force), corporate and family immigration law, intellectual property, trade, antitrust, data breach, real property, privacy law, and other corporate legal affairs.
Melina’s experience as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel also includes negotiating numerous types of complex multimillion-dollar transactions, managing high-profile litigation dockets involving a wide spectrum of matters in state and federal courts and arbitrations and mediations across the country, and creating and implementing a company-wide compliance program for operations across the globe.
Melina has also built legal departments from the ground up, served as legal counsel on one of the largest industrial real estate sales in Latin America in 2007, and coordinated governmental relations with a Mexican State government for a medical non-profit. In addition, Melina worked for a prominent immigration law firm in Washington, D.C.
When Melina is not practicing law, she likes to spend time with her husband and kids, work out, travel, explore new restaurants, and find new and exciting investment opportunities.
